Simple Bread reprinted from Tips and Recipes by Simple Church
1. Mix up 4 cups of flour and 2 cups of cold water with 1 teaspoon of sea salt and only 1/4 teaspoon of dry yeast in a bowl only until it doesn’t look dry anymore. Put a lid cover on the bowl and just let it sit on your counter for about 15 hours.
2. Preheat your oven to 500 degrees - yes I know it’s super hot! Put a covered dutch oven in the oven for about 20 minutes or until it’s blazing hot.
3. Pour out your dough and let it lie flat without pushing out your awesome bubbles. Gently fold the bread over itself once, then using your hands in a circular motion form it into a ball. Place it on a piece of parchment paper and cut a deep slice across the top.
4. Carefully grab that blazing hot dutch oven out of the oven and remove the lid. Grab the edges of your parchment paper and gently place it on the bottom of the dutch oven. Place the cover back on and carefully put it in the oven for 30 minutes.
5. Let your house smell real good.
6. After 30 minutes remove the lid and let it bake for another 10 minutes until the crust is dark. Like really dark. Like almost burned.
7. Turn off your oven, carefully grab the bread out of your dutch oven, place on a cooling rack, and let it sit for 30 minutes. Don’t you dare cut into it right away. It looks cool, but your bread is still baking inside the crust. If you cut it hot, it will deflate and still be doughy inside.
8. After patiently letting it cool, slice that sucker up and feed it to your loved ones!
9. Stand amazed by the glory of fermentation. It will be the best bread you’ve ever made/ ate/ eaten.
